on building things almost on purpose

most of the interesting things i've built started as something else. a script to automate a task becomes a system. a question becomes a research project. a weekend hack becomes a product.

the pattern is consistent enough to be a methodology, or at least an excuse.

this site is a place to document that process — the tangents that turned into something, the notes that didn't, and the work that sits somewhere in between.
